Wow! What a surprise find this place is. I was at Ten Mile Brewery to meet some friends and found out there was a Cajun Food Fest. Let me tell you, the catfish po boy was one of the best I've had on the West Coast. Service from the workers and the chef himself was great. You could feel the love they put into their food. I'll definitely be back to try a shrimp po boy and other items they recommend

I'm very happy to hear they are not closing after all. Thank you, Long Beach! I've been here twice and will put this place in my regular rotation for a local brunch. That bourbon bacon slice is something special. My husband and I shared it and gave each other the look that says "Oh hell yeh!" The red shrimp dish was really good, too. The shrimp were tiger, I believe.. a really good size and I got full and couldn't finish it. Added a egg on top but could've left that out. The dish stands perfectly on its own. Husband got the meatloaf and loved it. I had a German white wine, can't remember the name and it was so crisp, dry and lovely, husband had an IPA and really liked it. We sat out on the back patio which is decorated so cute, and they get a bonus for heated lamps that can stand up to our LBC brisk winter weather.

I'm writing this 5 star review knowing that Shady Groves is on the verge of closing of closing its doors. Sad day. It's closing not because the food isn't amazing or lack of popularity but because the city of Long Beach has no interest in working with a small business to come up with a solution to operate a smoker. The city doesn't allow the use of smokers at a business and smoking meats off site just became financially burdensome. I am a big supporter of street vendors but I find it infuriating that they're allowed to operate their business, with their equipment but Shady Groves isn't allowed to. I discovered this gem 6 months ago and have since been 3 times. The food here is amazing! My go to, is the tri tip, which is cooked to perfection. If you order the dish during brunch, it's served with eggs, and during dinner it's served with beans and greens. The salsa verde and pico de gallo compliment the dish very well. The ribs are to die for as well. I would order the tri tip and have some one else order the ribs, so you split the dishes but if you can only have one of these, go with the tip. Service here is amazing, especially when provided by Marisa D. She's so funny and personable. There's a small dining room and a larger outdoor patio for dining. The inside feels like your neighborhood bar, while the outside has a cute barn/ranch feel to it. This business will still exist through popups and catering. But do yourself a favor and eat here while you can. They're also proving pickup options for Christmas, including prime rib!

Let's keep yelp real!!! I've eaten too many of their breakfast burritos to count. This is one of my favorite holes in the wall. Also, this is not a traditional BBQ sauce type of BBQ joint. Located in an unassuming building on 4th street, this establishment has you covered breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Customer service is great, you can sit inside or outside, which has a cool backyard bbq feel, the music choice is solid, and the menu doesn't overwhelm you. I've had the sticky bones, tri tip sandwich, waffle, and of course the breakfast burrito. All the food has been consistent and delicious. PS the hobo beans are chef's kiss
